“The Set Up!”

Getting ready for the Small World Coffee show this friday in Princeton and trying to wrap my head around the needs of the upcoming holiday season.  I am wishing for a workshop where I could leave my sewing machine set up and fabric out on tables to get over the “hump” of having to set everything up from scratch each time I dive into working!  Its good to dream and in the meantime get down to task! Enjoy!

Weeding!

The middle of August has crept up like the weeds in my garden (haha).   I have just opened a box containing new fabric!!  I love it, some of the prints are black.  I can’t contain the excitement about the outfit possibilities in my wardrobe, due to the excessive amount of black clothing I own.  I have made a few skirts and using velvet ribbon again makes me want to wear a scarf  and tights.  Hopefully others will feel the same, when it cools off.  So I’m off to one last hoorah at the ocean and then its time to buckle down!! Enjoy:)

Once again I have let the pace of summer take our family to the ocean with friends and across the country to visit family.   The clothing gets put on hold while the summer vacation is fully embraced.   Its so refreshing and a reality check to the balance of life.  The re-entry into everyday life however can have some glitches, such as the return to home maintenance and fitting working back into ones day.  Time to get off the lounge chair and back to the sewing table!  I can’t believe that today I actually thought about starting to create for the holiday season.  Its good to ease in slowly so I have started with the small things…  Enjoy!

I have come to the realization lately that I happen to enjoy writing and have my own unique style of grammar and punctuation.   My current internet reading has been focused on how to promote and sell my clothing, you know – get it out there!!   Not to date myself, but man this must have been rough before the internet.  Print ads and dependency on customer reviews and word of mouth, no instant gratification!  In the land before facebook how did we gather have hundreds and thousands of “friends” who all they had to do to “like” us was to press a button.  I feel pretty lucky to be a part of this day and age to be able to have all these tools at my fingertips.  Enjoy!

Love and Lightning Bugs!

Happiness is in the air.   There is a magical feeling possibly generated by lightning bugs and sunshine.  I have been feeling so lucky to have such amazing friends that share there love and generosity in unsurpassable levels.  The compliments on Norma & Henry and help with promotion simply make be blush!  Norma & Henry is now available at iMiJ Shop in Easton too.  I hope everyone is enjoying summer to the fullest!

Stopping to Smell the Roses

So its been a while since I have written a post.  I have been creating but also talking trips to the beach to celebrate 13 years of marriage, planting a garden and swimming in the creek with my kids.  I had a photo shoot this evening and I am so fortunate to have such beautiful surroundings and people in my life (Amy and Rubes!)   Looking forward to the Indie Craft Fair in Bethlehem in a week and just enjoying the pace of summer!

Norma

So my grandmother Norma (for whom half the business is named) turned 87 today. She is an amazing woman, lived through so much and so many places, an inspiration to us all.  Her stories are epic and detailed like no other.   Happy Birthday Grandma!

Idea Department

Calling all brain cells in friends, family, advice givers of the planet….   What do you think would be the best way to market Norma & Henry.  Its hard to categorize your own product and see through others eyes where “they” see you fit in.  I created Norma & Henry out of the need for happy clothing in a society facing troubled times.  I’m open to any thoughts, thanks for your time and enjoy!

Jitter Bug!

Its time to kick off the spring/summer craft season!  I am so excited for the Art Start Craft Bazaar in a few weeks in Phili.  I have never done a show this large and along with the jitters I can’t wait to feel the energy of the crowd and see the talents of the other artists/crafters involved.   I have been working on a new sign and plans for my booth which I will try out this weekend in Summit, nj.  I would love to see some familiar faces at the shows as well as the opportunity to meet new people, hope to see you there, enjoy!

Time – What a Concept!

Time is such a strange thing.  It moves as fast as light sometimes and then can slow down to a snails pace.  I can’t believe it has almost been a year and a half since I put together ten skirts to start Norma & Henry.   Here’s a pic from “behind the scenes” at the first Norma & Henry photo shoot, enjoy!
